8% Imperial Chocolate Milk Stout
It's been a wee while since I did a beer tasting at home because of the mega busy bank holiday here in York. I work a hospitality job as my day to day, which means some evenings I rarely step foot in the house before I'm in bed. These turned up in the fridges this week which means I had to grab one and crack it open as I was unable to resist that bright pink can.
Pours inky black with a quick rising head that disperses just as fast.
It smells like hot chocolate left to go cold, tonnes of cocoa powder and obviously a milky sweetness.I'm pretty sure sticking your face over an open tin of Cadburys hot chocolate powder smells the same. There's a slight hint of vanilla and an oakyness.
Flavour is mellow, not overdone on the chocolate. I was expecting mega sweetness from this, almost like a dessert beer but it wasn't quite as big. Clear roasted bitterness but backed with that chocolate, like the good quality 70% cocoa stuff you get form Green and Blacks. Mouthfeel is thick, with minimal carbonation - seems like it all came out of solution during the pour.
I know many BrewDog bars have this one in stock, give 'em a shout on Twitter if you want to find out for yourself. Cheers!
