5.2% New England IPA
My first taste of Shindigger, another Manchester based brewery. Founded as a duo selling homebrew at student parties, they now operate as 'shadow brewers' - utilising spare capacity from other breweries to make their beers. I loved the can art on this one, which was my inspiration for picking it up.
Hop fumes balloon out of the can ass soon as it's cracked, pouring a dense hazy pale straw into the glass. The head evaporated quickly, but formed a decent sized white head when it lasted.
The smell is all tropical fruit, with mango, passionfruit, papaya, pineapple and mango at the forefront.
I was surprised at how thick the mouthfeel was at only 5.2% abv. Imagine a light version of a Cloudwater offering, lacking the booziness and slight hop burn. Instead, a soft initial flavour of stone fruits like apricot and peach is backed up with mangoes and pineapple. Slight bitterness on the back end but very easy drinking.
This one was another bottle shop purchase, give your local a shout if you like the sound of it!
