11% Ethiopian Coffee and Vanilla Imperial Stout
As mentioned on Instagram earlier this week, I'll be putting together a piece on Swedish gypsy brewers Omnipollo, including an interview with co-founder and head designer Karl Grandin. We're starting big, with Selassie.
Pours an almost treacle like dense jet black, with a decent head that dissipates quickly. Carbonation seems average but comes out of solution quickly.
Aroma is heavy with vanilla, Christmas cake, chocolate, espresso and icing sugar. Literally cake in a glass.
Just as was the pour, the body is insanely thick. Coffee bitterness is counterbalanced with the ample amounts of sweet vanilla notes. Imagine christmas pudding with the brandy not yet burned. The booziness is there, but not overwhelming.
Flavours linger for what seems like ever on the tongue.
I bought this one from www.honestbrew.co.uk, along with some other Omnipollo beers.
